Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about dictating on your Mac with Fluere.
Getting started
What is Fluere?
Fluere is a private dictation app for Mac. Hold the Fn (Globe) key in any text field, speak, and release. Fluere turns your voice into text and types it into the app you’re using.
Which Macs can run Fluere?
Fluere needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 26 or later. AI polishing also needs a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence.
Which apps does Fluere work with?
Fluere works in most apps where you type, such as Mail, Messages, Notes, and web browsers, and in tools like ChatGPT, Codex, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and Xcode. For your security, Fluere never types into password fields.
Which languages does Fluere support?
English and Spanish. The Free plan uses the one language you choose. Unlimited lets you switch between English and Spanish quickly.
What permissions does Fluere need?
Microphone access, so Fluere can hear you, and Accessibility access, so it can type text into the app you’re using.
Why do I need to sign in?
Your account keeps track of your plan and weekly word allowance. You can sign in with Google or Apple.
Privacy
Does my voice leave my Mac?
No. Fluere transcribes speech on your Mac with Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Your audio, transcripts, and dictation history are never uploaded.
Does AI polishing send my text to the cloud?
No. AI polishing is optional and runs on your Mac with Apple Intelligence.
What does Fluere send to its servers?
Only what your account needs: your sign-in details, your subscription, and how many words each dictation contains, never the words themselves. Feedback is sent only when you choose to send it.
Features
What does AI polishing do?
AI polishing removes filler words like “um” without changing what you meant. It can apply a writing style, such as Professional, Conversational, or Developer, and format your dictation as bullet points or numbered steps.
Can Fluere spell names and technical terms correctly?
Yes. Add names, product names, and technical terms to your Dictionary so Fluere writes them the way you do. Starter packs add common terms for you.
Is Fluere good for developers?
Yes. Fluere has settings for ChatGPT, Codex, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and Xcode. In Cursor, VS Code, and Xcode chat, say “at” and a file name to reference a file, or “slash” to open commands in Cursor and VS Code. The Developer style keeps your writing direct and technical.
Can each app use different settings?
Yes. App profiles give each app its own writing style. Free includes one automatic app profile, and Unlimited includes as many as you need.
